Split into separate articles for WWI and WWII BEFs ?

edit

It could be a good idea to split into separate articles for WWI and WWII - to me they seem to be totally separate entities, even though the thinking behind them was similar. ?? Rcbutcher (talk) 04:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I think they both merit seperate articles.Lord Cornwallis (talk) 06:10, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Creation Date

edit

I don't remember the prceise date, but I recollect the BEF was created years before the Great War as a standing body - what, today, woulud probably be called a rapid-reaction force, available for either the defence of Britain, or for overseas expeditions. Am I mistaken? Aodhdubh (talk) 23:06, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, you're not mistaken. I've tidied up the wording of the introduction to express this more clearly. Rcbutcher (talk) 00:52, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Still: If I wanted to prove when the BEF came into existence, the earliest date which can derived from the article as it is now, is through an oblique reference to the battle of Mons. It needs much more information on creation, mobilization and deployment of the actual troops, with regard to places and dates.
tl;dr: When did the Tommies arrive in Belgium???

Military jargon

Please remember most readers are general readers - some basic information is missing (such as how many soldiers make up a division). 83.200.1.107 (talk) 16:53, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
