Date of Birth for Henry Smith Lane
editPage 120 or "Biographical and Historical Sketches of Early Indiana" by William Wesley Woollen states that the date of birth of Henry Smith Lane was 11 February 1811; however, his tombstone at Oak Hill Cemetery, Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana clearly shows a date of 24 February 1811 (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=8477). This date is also at the entry for him on Political Graveyards (politicalgraveyard.com/bio/lane.html).
While being carved into his tombstone does not prove the date, it is strong evidence compared to a biography written in 1975.
