"Back" incorrect
edit"The island was given as a gesture of goodwill back to China" For a start, the Chinese state from 1947 onwards is completely differnet to any which existed before then - after all, it was formed from a coup / revolution and seizure of power by violence. But, the territories on the mainland were leased from the earlier China - the island never was. It wasn't given "back". It was never ever owned by China, in either form of its governments. It was totally illegally "given" by the disgraced Bath MP Chris Patten (who very quickly lost his seat, not least due to his then-perceived betrayal of the Hong Kong people), without any authority. 2.31.164.76 (talk) 19:52, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Ap Lei Chau should not be included as a locality for Hong Kong Island, as it is a separate island just south of Hong Kong Island near its southwest corner. The confusion arises as Ap Lei Chau is part of Southern District, which the government considers to be part of the HK Island districts. I also note the Hong Kong Island population includes Ap Lei Chau residents, which again is inaccurate as they don't live on Hong Kong Island.
Post WWII?
editThe article does not seem to include any history post WWII. In particular it mentions nothing about the transition from the UK to China. The link to 'British Colony' does not treat the post-war era either.
I did eventually find Wiki pages that do cover this era, for example 'Handover of Hong Kong'. Perhaps they could at least be linked. 94.247.186.130 (talk) 20:04, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

edit@Onel5969: I would suggest a bold revert back to an earlier clean version to remove the plethora of unsourced content added by User:Ilovefood123123, who has been going from article to article adding unsourced content. - I would suggest you remove the unsourced content you added to this article...all of it. Then, when you are able to add sources, you can add it back. This would save us having to roll back so many edits, just to remove the mass of unsourced content you added to this and so many other articles. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:35, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

And as per WP policy, any unsourced information can be removed at any time, and should not be re-added without valid sourcing being provided.
