Contradictions in "Early life"

edit

Under Early life, Pedro Zamora's wikipedia article currently says, "His mother's death inspired him to become a doctor, but he replaced her presence in his life by becoming sexually active with many sexual partners. He was ignorant of safe sex, as the only AIDS education he received was in the seventh grade from a man who did not present the disease as a legitimate threat to him, but as something distant that only afflicted societal undesirables like prostitutes, drug addicts and homosexuals."

That is contradictory. Zamora was having sex with other males but didn't consider himself to be at risk because AIDS was only a threat to homosexuals?? Read another way, is this wikipedia article claiming that Zamora was having sex with females and not males? That's dubious because the next sentences say that Zamora is gay and was having gay relationships as a teenager.

At the very least, the [dubiousdiscuss] tag should be added. It should also be made clear that his "many sexual partners" were male (or female?), and the next sentence saying that he thought the AIDS risk didn't apply to him but only to homosexuals even though he was a homosexual should be deleted or changed.63.247.160.139 (talk) 09:01, 20 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

The passage should say "prostitutes and drug addicts", as per the cited source. Not homosexuals. That may have been my error when I originally wrote that passage. Thanks for catching that. :-) Nightscream (talk) 03:12, 22 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
