WikiProject Ancient Egypt to-do list:
  • Needed articles.

We should have an article on every pyramid and every nome in Ancient Egypt. I'm sure the rest of us can think of other articles we should have.

  • Cleanup.

To start with, most of the general history articles badly need attention. And I'm told that at least some of the dynasty articles need work. Any other candidates?

  • Standardize the Chronology.

A boring task, but the benefit of doing it is that you can set the dates !(e.g., why say Khufu lived 2589-2566? As long as you keep the length of his reign correct, or cite a respected source, you can date it 2590-2567 or 2585-2563)

  • Stub sorting

Anyone? I consider this probably the most unimportant of tasks on Wikipedia, but if you believe it needs to be done . . .

  • Data sorting.

This is a project I'd like to take on some day, & could be applied to more of Wikipedia than just Ancient Egypt. Take one of the standard authorities of history or culture -- Herotodus, the Elder Pliny, the writings of Breasted or Kenneth Kitchen, & see if you can't smoothly merge quotations or information into relevant articles. Probably a good exercise for someone who owns one of those impressive texts, yet can't get access to a research library.

Friends of Sabbath Reference

edit

I'm moving this section to the talk page for a bit of discussion. There are a couple of issues to discuss.

1) Can you please provide a proper citation for this reference. I am not the only editor that has brought up copyright concerns. In that citation can you please provide a page number for the specific section you are quoting for this support?

2) Can you edit your submission for proper grammar, including capitalizations? Also please review a bit to ensure it is written in an encylopedic manner.

3) Can you offer a bit to support that this source meets WP:RS requirements?

Here is the relevant text:

Seraphim

edit

The judaeo-christian angelic seraphim, frequently associated with serpents, are thought to have derived from the concept of uraeus. Multiple-winged uraei amulets are well represented in Palestine.[1]

Thanks,

@Squatch347 I fail to see the copyright issues. Are you seriously suggesting that Wikipedia's standards have declined so low that SOURCES DELIBERATELY MADE FREE BY THE WRITERS AND INSTITUTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THEM are off limits now?

I will restore the edits when I feel better.

@Falconfly, I see you've made that statement a couple of times, can you please elaborate? Where did the author's specifically state that they hold no copyright claims to the text? Being free is not the same thing as not being copyrighted (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights).
Additionally, can address the other two issues here before re-adding any text? Squatch347 (talk) 13:16, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
NM, didn't see A.Parrot's response in the other page, we can discuss it there. Thanks. Squatch347 (talk) 13:20, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
