Please have a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Manipuri. Due to their edits being stale, they were not taken any action. Pinging @RoySmith who's the last checkuser to leave a message in the investigation. Haoreima (talk) 11:06, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Haoreima: Looks like a WP:DUCK. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:08, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: Have a look at this newbie. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:45, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
As of now, this user seemed to be interested in different countries around the world. They did some editings of different states of India, but had not touched a single Manipur or Meitei related articles yet. Their editings on Nagaland article didn't seem to be ethnocentric as of now. It seems unlikely to be a sock, in case of suspicion related to the previously blocked user who was Naga ethnocentric & anti Meitei. Haoreima (talk) 19:32, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: Yes, exactly, no DUCKY behaviour till now. I'm keeping a tab at 'em. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 20:06, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

See

[1]. and my post below. You think this editor is ok? Doug Weller talk 13:25, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Doug Weller: Well, our initial interaction was me reverting their newbie edits a few years back. Over the years, I've come to trust this user. Makes good edits, without bias (not apparent to me atleast) and haven't seen them edit warring. As for the content, the residual part - "The original structure was destroyed by Mahmud Begada in 1472." seems sourced in Dwarkadhish Temple#History - Thus the sultan decide to capture Dwarka and in 1473 began marching towards the city. The Raja of Dwarka Bhim and his Rajputs fled the city to the island fortress of Bet, allowing Mahmud Begada to plunder Dwarka, destroy buildings and the Dwarkadhish temple and destroy its idol.[12], but the source used is British Era, hence may not be usable per WP:RAJ. It is not linked in the article, here's the URL [2]. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:59, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, they've told me I missed that and I've looked at the source. . But I've responded wondering if the source is an RS. I'm chasing that up. Doug Weller talk 14:27, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

User:Goodfacts666

Goodfacts666 has been removing sourced content from various articles, please go through her contributions and revert what you feel is inappropriate, post a warning on her User talk page and if necessary, report her to WP:ANI. Given her ability to use WP:HotCat, I don't think she is a new user having made just a little over 200 edits. Please start a WP:SPI if you can!-Haani40 (talk) 18:00, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't see her edit warring, nor making any bad faith edits/vandalism. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:57, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, this is a diff of her ability to auto-collapse sections in the Template:Sikh_Empire template which certainly a new user cannot do. You need to find out from her edits if she is a sock-puppet and report her!-Haani40 (talk) 19:05, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Haani40: Ok, they might not be a new user. But, whose SP would they be? Diffs? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:12, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
She has made more than 200 edits and it is difficult for me to go through all of those but if you find something pointing to sock-puppetry, please report her!-Haani40 (talk) 19:16, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
A new user cannot do this or this or this.-Haani40 (talk) 19:30, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can't report someone based on a hunch. Need concrete proof, that is similar diffs, editing areas, shared by this ID and others. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:44, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that's the problem. This is another diff of her collapsing text.-Haani40 (talk) 19:50, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
In her very first edit she added a {{cn}} tag; a newbie would not know about that.-Haani40 (talk) 19:57, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
In her second edit she added an image - a newcomer would not be able to do that.-Haani40 (talk) 20:02, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
in her seventh edit she uses another sophisticated tool.-Haani40 (talk) 20:08, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
In this edit she has commented out some text instead of adding a {{cn}} template.-Haani40 (talk) 20:34, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Tasumluke

You didn't call them a terrorist. I hope. 😲 -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:31, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Deepfriedokra: Nope, never. That's an allegation against me. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:33, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Deepfriedokra: Apart from sockpuppetry, an obvious case of falsification of sourced content (including census data) can be observed in their edits. For example:-
Here they claim Hinduism is "not the plurality religion of the state" of Arunachal Pradesh, while at "29.04%" it definitely is and the second largest religion of the state.
Here they claimed Tamang, Rai, Limbu to be a part of the Gorkha. Gorkha is an ethno-cultural group, not an ethno-linguistic mega group.
Here they claimed Lepcha people are a Sikkimese. Sikkimese is a demonym, not an ethno-linguistic group either, and Lepchas are native inhabitants of other states as well.
The whole set of edits from this to this is nothing but arbitrary grouping and arrangements in an effort to club diverse independently notable ethnic groups together, in line with the 'idea' of the proposed state of WESEA, denying them of their separate identity which is maintained in Wikipedia. Apart from the large chunk of undue material, see this attempt at POVpushing the name of proposed state in the lead / hatnote. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:20, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes I have little confidence in their ability to contribute constructively.
I feel like often when new users accuse established. Users POV pushing. It's because they are The onePOV pushing.. Pardon my phone it doesn't know how to format. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 18:35, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Deepfriedokra: Yeah, exactly. .. I've faced similar issues editing using my phone  . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:55, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Deepfriedokra: I wonder what's happening in their talk page [3] [4]. Some sort of congregation of people interested in WESEA may be. Future sock/meat puppets? The IP range is showing Tinsikia, Assam, a place in northeast India. Please have a look. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:39, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Girth Summit: Intrigued and curious as well. Off Wiki canvass? Socks? -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 10:31, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Something very peculiar, certainly. Don't think it's the same person, off-wiki coordination would be my best guess. Girth Summit (blether) 17:04, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Can you take a look at this page I created
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:AltruisticHomoSapien#c-GSS-20240426150200-Ankush_Khardori_moved_to_draftspace
I believe it meets Notability criteria.
What do you think? AltruisticHomoSapien (talk) 16:53, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@AltruisticHomoSapien: Skimming through, it seems majority of the sources aren't third-paty, I mean they are written by the subject himself. So ventures into WP:SPS territory. You need to replace them with third party sources first. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:10, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Tyrannorevert

If it wasn't obvious, I reverted Lythronaxargestes by accident because I was too slow; I thought I was reverting the IP, but it had already been reverted. FunkMonk (talk) 17:14, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@FunkMonk: Fair enough. Regards   - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:28, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your view?

Hello @Fylindfotberserk, what's your opinion on Talk:Maratha Empire#Requested move 17 April 2024? PadFoot2008 06:09, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@PadFoot2008: Well per Google Scholar, we have more hits for Maratha Empire as opposed to Maratha Confederacy. The former seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME. Have to discuss it thoroughly instead of merely voting on it if POV is a question and if not solely basing on the commonname policy. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:41, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Article titles are supposed to be neutral rather than just the most common name. Preferably, the most neutral sounding one of all the various common names. Both Maratha Confederacy and Maratha Empire have nearly equal number of uses in Google Books in recent decades it appears, with the latter being slightly more, but "Maratha Confederacy" is considerably more neutral, while Empire is considered an exaggeration. I am open to discussion. PadFoot2008 10:39, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Responding to "mentioning caste in a biography of a living person"

I'm sorry but several notable person articles on Wikipedia have their castes mentioned as well, despite lack of self-identification, on account of existing third-party sources. I can keep bringing up examples. One example is Abhijit Banerjee, fellow Nobel Prize winner. He's never publicly stated he's a Brahmin, but there are numerous third party sources that attest to that claim. If mention of caste is justified in that article, for instance, it completely is, in the case of Amartya Sen as well. However, you may start a discussion on the talk page if you have a dispute vis a vis the same. Thanks. Dissoxciate (talk) 11:02, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Dissoxciate: Abide by the policy, not whataboutism. You are free to remove caste from BLPs if those lack self-identification. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:08, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not whataboutism in the slightest. I'm stating a reason for my actions. A good chunk of living person articles on Wikipedia do not abide by the policy, hence the example. Dissoxciate (talk) 11:10, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dissoxciate: Wikipedia is a collaborative project. Experienced users can't keep a tab on all the BLPs. As I said, you are free to remove caste from BLPs that lack self-identification. The policies are what we abide by, no exceptions. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:12, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Moving

Hi. Could you please move Ngareima back to Ngaleima (original title + common name)? It was moved by someone without discussion. Technically, it was "undiscussed move" as well. Besides, all the articles of the sister wikipedias of other languages use the common title. Haoreima (talk) 05:10, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

BlackOrchidd

FYI, BlackOrchidd is topic banned from all IPA topics (re your comment on their talk page). --RegentsPark (comment) 13:03, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@RegentsPark: Oh.. OK. Thanks. Can you take care of that? That IP range has made a mess of that article. There is another article [5], where the IP is active. I've notified the page creator [6]. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:18, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I took a look but this would be a content fix and I can't do that. RegentsPark (comment) 07:56, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Disruptive Italian IPs

Hey Fylindfotberserk, I know you've been active in fixing the disruption those Italian IPs (most notably the 93* IPs) caused in various Indian/Punjabi related articles-[7]. I just wanted to let you know they've now started to use various accounts like GuruRavidasPuttar, DeraBallanOfficial and now SantwinderSingh. Hopefully, we can get their disruption limited by being vigilant on the pages they often target. Thanks. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 11:22, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Southasianhistorian8: Thanks for the heads up. I'll watchlist and keep an eye over those. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:27, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
