Frank Branch Riley

edit

We have a new bio on Frank Branch Riley, who became known as Oregon's "unofficial ambassador", courtesy of Goldfish-silverfish. I think the article could be a candidate for DYK if any other editors are interested in looking it over. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 18:41, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

FPC

edit

Now, I don't want to canvass votes, so please only vote if you would likely have done so anyway, but just to let everyone here know, File:Portland, Oregon, in 1898 - Herbert A. Hale.jpg is up at featured pictures, and looks very likely to pass (it's already at quorum). Used in a number of Portland-related articles; photographer doesn't appear to have an article, though I suspect he could if people wanted to dig into enough non-online sources. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.8% of all FPs. 20:59, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the pointer. It's nice to know what's going on, I don't see it as a canvass. tedder (talk) 22:48, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I just think it's better to be explicit on such things. Better over-cautious than under-cautious, after all. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.8% of all FPs. 18:54, 28 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
For the record, it passed and is now a featured picture. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.8% of all FPs. 14:17, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Adam Cuerden Nice work, congrats! --Another Believer (Talk) 14:18, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Photo request

edit

Greetings. If you live in or near McMinnville, Oregon, I would appreciate a photograph of one (or both) of these restaurants: Hayward (restaurant) and Okta (restaurant). Please snap photos of the building and (if necessary) a dish. Thanks in advance, TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 22:45, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pioneer Courthouse Square Christmas tree

edit

Feeling a bit Christmas in July-ish? Welcoming collaboration at Draft:Pioneer Courthouse Square Christmas tree, for anyone who is interested. Happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:13, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Found this Oregonian piece with 43 photos of the annual tuba Christmas concert, at least one with the tree in the background. Maybe an ext. link? — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 19:22, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
There's a lot of holiday-related programming at the square, but I am trying to keep this entry specific to the tree and affiliated festivities, such as the tree arrival parades and lighting ceremonies. I feel good about coverage of the 2000s to present, based on Google and Google News searches, but the Oregonian archives may be needed for a bit more detail about the 1980s and 1990s. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:52, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Seeking collaboration and GA co-nomination

edit

Here's a short list of some articles I've worked on that could use a bit of polishing before a Good article nomination. I'm down to collaborate and co-nominate, if you see one that interests you:

Just lemme know here or on the article's talk page. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:04, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Requesting feedback regarding Music Millennium

edit

There's an ongoing disagreement over at Talk:Music_Millennium about an expansion of the article, which includes information about a bizarre protest/publicity stunt against Garth Brooks at the store and its role in the eventual formation of Record Store Day. Another editor is evidently determined to remove this content, but has yet to provide any valid reasons why. Constablequackers (talk) 13:36, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
