User:CalOtter

My reason for applying is to help out on the WP:ARB/R pages and Wikipedia:Bot requests. Thanks! CalOtter (talk) 22:21, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Automated comment This user has approximately 9 non-automated edits in the mainspace. MusikBot talk 22:21, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
{{notdone}} – Please come back when you have 250 non-automated edits in the main space. EdJohnston (talk) 01:02, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see where it says that you need 250 non-automated main space edits? CalOtter (talk) 13:00, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
See the blue box near the top of this page: Users with under 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits are rarely approved. EdJohnston (talk) 14:53, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see that it says 500 mainspace edits or 250 non-automated mainspace edits? I have 500 mainspace edits. CalOtter (talk) 20:29, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The wording on this page should probably be changed. I personally would not grant AWB to someone who had fewer than 250 non-automated mainspace edits, unless they had a specific need they could explain. But other admins might decide differently. I don't object if another admin wants to go ahead in your case. EdJohnston (talk) 20:43, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed my closure above, and am leaving this for the next admin to decide on. EdJohnston (talk) 20:51, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

CalOtter, what sort of edits require the use of AWB at the pages you've listed? Primefac (talk) 19:44, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Primefac: Shoot, I meant the AWB tasks page. Currently, there is a request by Bhunacat10 stating "Would a bot operator please remove the words "the name given to" from the 250-odd articles that have in their first sentence the phrase "Xxx Church is the name given to a religious building..." This phrasing goes against the recommendation at WP:REFERS". If I was granted this right, I would complete this task. Thanks! CalOtter (talk) 23:26, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
{{not done}}, as the discussion you reference seems to indicate that this change shouldn't be made. Combined with the lack of non-automated edits to Wikipedia I'm not quite comfortable granting access at this point at time. Primefac (talk) 01:57, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not so, Primefac, my request has attracted no comments or action to date. Your link goes to a section below mine: Bhunacat10 (talk), 07:26, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes. My apologies. Primefac (talk) 11:52, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not done the edits in question seem harmless enough; however, your lack of editing experience gives me pause: you have been editing for less than three months and have only made 9 non-automated edits, and AWB is a powerful tool, which can create massive messes if misused, even in good faith. For that, I agree with EdJohnston's assessment and suggest you come back after you have accumulated a bit more experience. Salvio Let's talk about it! 14:51, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:A202985

Reason for requesting is to help WP:curling with tagging talk pages and assessing articles quality/importance A202985 (talk) 05:09, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Automated comment This user has approximately 118 non-automated edits in the mainspace. MusikBot talk 05:10, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Note: I only have 118 edits in the mainspace but an additional 322 edits in the talkspace which are almost all adding wikiproject banners and setting quality/importance assessments
Not done, does not meet minimum requirements. Primefac (talk) 12:59, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:Clifflandis

It's been a little over a year since I picked Wikipedia back up, and I'm curious about whether/how AWB would speed up my work. Most of my recent edits have focused on creating new articles on historical female botanists as part of WP:WPWIR. Thanks for the consideration. Clifflandis (talk) 21:38, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
AWB doesn't really help you with creating new articles. It's useful when you do repetitive tasks maintaining lots of articles. Schwede66 09:25, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
