Notability?[edit]

Are winners of this award automatically notable as far as wikipedia is concerned? Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:51, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No. If they pass the general notability guideline, they are notable. If they don't pass it, they are not. Getting an award from the ACC does not guarantee that a person meets the GNG's criteria, and on the flipside there are plenty of people who meet the criteria but don't have an award from the ACC. bobrayner (talk) 21:15, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I wasn't sure. I asked because Jarmere Jenkins popped up on the tennis project page under new articles. He absolutely does not pass WP:NSPORTS or Tennis Project notability. I was gonna nominate it for deletion on that basis but thought since he was an ACC athlete of the year maybe it's automatic under that criteria. Any thoughts on your part?
