Adaptation has been listed as one of the Natural sciences good articles under the good article criteria. If you can improve it further, please do so. If it no longer meets these criteria, you can reassess it. Review: December 29, 2019. (Reviewed version). |
It is of interest to the following WikiProjects:
WikiProject Evolutionary biology, an attempt at building a useful set of articles on evolutionary biology and its associated subfields such as population genetics, quantitative genetics, molecular evolution, phylogenetics, and evolutionary developmental biology. It is distinct from the WikiProject Tree of Life in that it attempts to cover patterns, process and theory rather than systematics and taxonomy. Mutation
[edit]Hello @PDM C27: One problem with the edit is that there are non-genetic mechanisms of adaptation – especially behavioural adaptation – and there are non-mutational mechanisms of genetic variation – especially reassortment. Invasive Spices (talk) 27 March 2022 (UTC)
One among several. This is not the article for detailed work on genetics and mutation, topics which are amply covered elsewhere in multiple articles. Chiswick Chap (talk) 18:31, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
Fundemental Grounds
[edit]I removed an edit saying "The process of adaptation must have fundamental grounds in order for it to proceed, i.e., it’s purpose, function and relevance. The process in question cannot be progressed in a simplistic or generic way, instead, complexity regarding the potential future system behind adaptation is taken into consideration. These are key objectives taken into consideration when an organism evolves, whether it be naturally or manufactured."
This sounds like creationist talk to me. Natural selection certainly has no knowledge of purpose, function, or relevance. LarryBoy79 (talk) 16:11, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
