Though "Venus and Adonis" are familiar from Shakespeare and Paolo Veronese, the goddess associated with Adonis is Aphrodite. There is further material on this cult site in Lucian of Samosata's De Dea Syria; I'll locate it and edit it in. --Wetman 01:16, 4 December 2007 (UTC).[reply]
