AMI is also the acronym used by healthcare workers for Acute Myocardial Infarction (heart attack).


i'm not sure that one can make the claim that amis "generally refer to themselves as pangcah." this claim only holds for those 'amis living in hualien county--in taitung, the preferred usage is 'amis. moreover, 'amis in coastal taitung claim that "pangcah" derives from the hakka term for "savage village" (pansia). at any rate, the notion that pangcah is an ethnonym usage among most or all 'amis groups is not valid: it is a geographic difference that matters among 'amis groups 1.175.12.56 (talk) 02:03, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
