Louisville?

[edit]

Per the copyright statement on the book from which most of the images in the Slate article come from, Snead & Co. was based in Jersey City. This is confirmed by directory/phone book listings. Not sure if I can correct this by anything other than original research... Jwbkmn - Jersey City Library

I've found reference to a Snead & Company in Louisville, KY in the mid 1890's as doing decorative iron work. Whether this is the same company as the Jersey City company or not is a matter of further research. This may be a matter of conflating two companies with identical names, or a company that moved and changed direction. Clearly the research on this article is inadequate or incomplete.
