Rescue from "prod."

[edit]

The problem with the article as it now stands is that it is identical to dozens of no-account biographies submitted to Wikipedia every day, especially about IT people. If this figure's fame and writings are exceptional, then the article should point to some of the attention he has received with a reference or two. That would make it clear that this is not a run of the mill IT security employee. He may be head and shoulders above "Dupak Twone is the leader of IT security at Innitrobe," but the article doesn't assure the reader yet of this fact nor give the reader a way to be sure. The mere fact that the book was published by O'Reilly Media establishes the significance claim as this very respected publisher does not publish junk. Additionally, the book was translated and published in German and Japanese, which proves its value. I am adding this info to the article and removing prod. --Irpen 02:16, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, that doesn't really do it. You may know that O'Reily doesn't publish junk, but think of the readers. We have to remember that our articles are for people who have heard the name but do not already know the information. "I've heard of Anton Chuvakin, because he was commenting on the news. Who is this guy?" Well, we need to tell them. We need to tell them, as I like to say, "the contexts in which this person/item is meaningful." Not to be quarrelsome, but more would be needed.
