Citation Astronomical observation - Clarification needed flag

In the Astronomical observation section describing Sir David Gill's work on the island in 1877, the OP writes, "...to accurately measure the transit of Mars..." the entry should read, "...to accurately measure the position of Mars while in opposition..."

Clarification details may be found in the David Gill (astronomer) Wikipedia entry, and Note 6 [6] to that entry.

P.S. as Mars is an outer planet it would never transit the sun. NerillDP (talk) 23:23, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
