'Uses' (in/on/for? spices) unclear

What does that mean, that the article seems to say it is being used "in" ? "for" ? spices like cloves etc.? That means adulteration, or how is that to be understood? What exactly is done? 2A02:3037:600:839C:237:191A:1FBD:A68E (talk) 11:56, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
