Bovard endorsement

In the sidebar, or whatever it's called here, [[James Bovard]] is listed as one who endorsed Barr for president. In the article it is noted that Bovard was also paid to ghostwrite Barr's campaign book. Is the endorsement of someone who was a paid participant in the campaign meaningful?
