undue[edit]

It seems to me that half of this article is devoted to a September 1998 misplay. The Cubs made the playoffs anyway. This is certainly undue weight as it stands. It should either be trimmed, and/or the rest of the article should be expanded to counterbalance. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:47, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. Brant Brown's name is cemented into baseball history strictly because of this event. Ron Santo's response was simultaneously echoed by Cub fans across the solar system. It's one of the few events in my life where I can tell you exactly where I was and what I was doing when it happened. It's not really a slam on Brant; he was simply another actor in the never ending tragedy that is the Chicago Cubs. Briqman (talk) 00:58, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This statement is way too hyperbolic. Half of the article is about this one error, which does a disservice to the rest of his life and career. I will add details where needed and subtract as necessary. – Muboshgu (talk) 13:15, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t know much about hyperbole; I’m just a guy who appreciates this type of info on Wiki. With all due respect to your scholarly work (averaging 40 contributions per day for over 9 years), please don’t forget that Wiki serves a broad spectrum of visitors, not all of them academics. It’s kinda scary that you re-wrote Brant’s entire entry to totally minimize the 1998 error, and deleted the Santo reference in the process. If this is the kind of arbitrary negationism an Auspicious Looshpah does, I wouldn’t be too proud of it. Briqman (talk) 19:41, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
