List of rail accidents - by type of accidents.

[edit]

It would be nice if the description of each type of accident ( such as head-on collision ) included a list of accidents of that type, extracted from the List of rail accidents topic, which is growing too long. This makes it easier to study accidents of a simuilar kind.

The Veligonda train disaster is a washaway or weather type accident, which now lists many washaway type accidents.

Expect the categories of accident-types to overlap. For example, a bridge collapse due to fatigue, might be classified differently to a bridge or embankment collapse due to flooding.

Sixteen years on, I agree wholeheartedly. There seems no point in having a section headed 'Classification of rail accidents by effects' without sub-sections dedicated to each category. Valetude (talk) 17:20, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
