He was a former soldier?[edit]
Many sources say he was a former soldier - a lot of his background is already given in the article so might as well add that too (he seemed to be a career criminal from an early age so maybe the sources are wrong and the army didn't take him - but there are lots of sources saying so)
e.g. "A former soldier jailed for life for torturing five gay men to death has died at Wakefield jail, the Prison Service has said." - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-17117441
Possible release[edit]
Is it possible that Ireland could one day be realesed because of the 2002 Law Lords ruling that stripped the Home Secretary of their right to impose whole life tariffs? If Ireland can never be released then this must mean that he was given his whole life tariff by a judge. The article does not make this clear.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.11.251.100 (talk • contribs)
- This does not affect this case as Colin Ireland died in February 2012 of natural causesAmanda138a (talk) 20:25, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Blacklisted links found on the page[edit]
Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

I knew this person[edit]
I knew this man some time before his most terrible crimes or so I thought. We attended a first aid course together and he worked as a barman in a pub in Buckfastleigh in Devon. A little odd and dressed in army fatigues but otherwise seemed OK. I remember arranging loosely to meet him a drink and am so glad I didn't! I phoned the pub not so long after our course and asked if he was available to be met be stoney silence. I can only guess now that he had been arrested and that during our time associated he had been active. Just goes to show that you never know who anyone really is in casual circumstances so always be careful! 149.241.24.191 (talk) 18:32, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
