disambiguation

[edit]

Should this also have a link to and from the disambiguation page Collation (disambiguation) or is there a reason not to? --Matt Westwood 13:48, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish tradition

[edit]

Removed reference to Jewish traditions as these meals are not eaten as part of a fasting ritual. The one working citation does not reference any relationship that kiddush or oneg meals may have to collation. Article has also needed citations since 2009 so removing.Ehgarrick (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:35, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

british english?

[edit]

i see nothing in the wiktionary entry claiming this is british, and, in fact, i see it quite often in the US in a general "light meal" sense. veteran posts, in particular, will often say "join us back at the hall for a collation following the ceremonies". usually a LOT of food, i might add! but i guess some ppl don't consider them a "proper" meal b/c they are buffets, self-service, light on veggies, etc.

sometimes after a funeral as well.

haven't heard it from restaurants or private citizens. just social clubs, lodges, posts, etc. 2601:19C:527F:A660:10BC:8650:13E0:F9B0 (talk) 08:12, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
