Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that this article should be merged with Cork United F.C. (1979) and Albert Rovers F.C., as these were not separate clubs but merely different names used by the same club. I would propose to host the article under Cork United F.C. (1979) as "Cork United" was the last name by which the club was known. The articles themselves already state that these were mere name changes, but a reliable secoundary source to support this is Niall MacSweeney, A Record of League of Ireland Football 1921/22-1984/5, published by the Association of Football Statisticians. On page 158, MacSweeney says that "Albert Rovers changed their name, first to Cork Albert, and later (October) to Cork Alberts". On page 164, he says: "Cork Alberts changed their name to Cork United." Mooretwin (talk) 22:51, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Further to this, following discussion at WikiProject Football, the proposal now is to host the merged article at Albert Rovers F.C.. Mooretwin (talk) 21:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
