Mortsel

[edit]

I just edited an edit made in 2008 for its POV language, in particular the word "massacre", and the impression I got that the edit was part of a personal agenda. After some research I found that the edit was made by the author of the source cited, iow, original research. I found the item word for word here [1]. My impression had been correct--the edit was agenda-driven. The tragedy at Mortsel is historical fact. I have references to it in many books, particularly Martin Bowman's Castles in the Air and B-17 Units. But it was not a massacre, it was a tragic accident of war. The source he cites states an opinion that he then repeats as fact. The idea that one can prove "indifference" (and possibly culpability) for the tragedy because of a failure to "collapse" is absurd, no matter how grievous the old wound, not to mention potentially libelous. Therefore while I have left the basic information, I have reworded it in neutral terms. I have also deleted the source as OR.--Reedmalloy (talk) 09:50, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
