Dear Holly I am so upset that the Scunthorpe Steel works is to close down.
My Grandfather worked at the steelworks also serving his country in World War One, also my father as a welder then serving in world war 2 this was his trade a welder.
I believe the steel works was sold to China three years ago . Now they are closing to the detriment of all the workers families wives and children . How short sighted that another of our fine industries will now be lost.
Scunthorpe depends on this industry as per the rest of the Uk proud to have British steel.
Now what ?? What will happen to Scunthorpe when will we learn to keep our industry and be proud of it. My mother was from Lancashire in the mills now closed British cotton, British coal, British copper, Tin, Steel, etc etc.
What will become of us and all the families this affects
Come on let’s look at the bigger picture wake up smell the coffee before it’s to later.
Save Scunthorpe now. 86.183.47.94 (talk) 20:09, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
