Cleanup

[edit]

This article was in need of some hefty cleanup, just for writing standards as well as what came across to me as an unfamiliarity on the part of the original author with BeOS. The part about Gassee's career at Apple really should be expanded, but I don't have my copy of the BeOS Bible anymore, alas. 128.107.236.189 00:24, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes

he's known in the BeOS community for his weird quotes, which should be included in the article by someone who knows more about the subject: http://www.bedope.com/qjlg/

A witness of his times?

[edit]

I came to this article as a reader, not as someone knowledgeable enough to contribute to an article about Gasee. The section titled A witness of his times seems out of place to me. It is somewhat interesting, but seems tacked on, non-encyclopedic (more like a magazine article), and puts a LOT of emphasis on the Amiga, which is only tangentially related to the subject of the article. I question the inclusion of this section. At the very least, it should be edited by someone who is better at writing English. emw 18:13, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This section is indeed problematic. It gives a terribly dramatic account of, well, very little. The only substance is that the Amiga had better hardware than Apple, and people at Apple were scared that their company would suffer for it. The quote of Mr. Gassée's only states that, and says nothing of substance about the state of the market or anything prescient about how things would turn out. When I tried to rewrite the section I realized just how devoid of substance it is; unless someone has a big objection and can clean it up, I'll delete it.
