MLB NETWORK AND ESPN AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU? 67.162.133.18 (talk) 23:15, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not official even they say so.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 23:42, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Got to read the fine print. ...a source familiar with the negotiations told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark. It's pesky phrases like this, that separates confirmed from still rumor.--Cube lurker (talk) 23:48, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

From the first paragraph: Now, they have reportedly added a third. Reportedly is a fancy way of saying it's unconfirmed.--Cube lurker (talk) 00:10, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
which is another way of saying "wait 45 minutes and it'll be confirmed" remember justsomerandomguy32? you guys are being like him, which btw is bad. 67.162.133.18 (talk) 00:21, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
from the article: "Lackey will join Jon Lester and Josh Beckett in what would have to be considered one of the most formidable rotation trios in the Major Leagues." 67.162.133.18 (talk) 00:24, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
From the article: "Earlier on Monday, it was reported that the Red Sox were having Lackey take a physical, typically an indication that a free agent is on the verge of signing." I think we should just say he's a Red Sox. Jonathansuh (talk) 00:59, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
WP:CRYSTAL - wait for an official announcement; do not add speculative/potential/possible/likely roster changes to Wiki. --Madchester (talk) 01:02, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh God here we go...... It's not speculative it has happened. 67.162.133.18 (talk) 01:09, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If "it has happened" Sox team officials will confirm the deal has been completed. It's that simple. Ben Sheets "agreed to a 2 year contact" with the Rangers earlier this year - but he failed his physical so the contract never became officail. A few years ago, that Jason Kidd trade was "agreed upon" by the Mavsericks and Nets. However, it fell through after Devean George activated his no trade clause... and a different set of players had to be involved in another trade between both teams. Transactions fall through for dozens of reasons...hence WP:CRYSTAL's provisions against unoffical roster changes. This ties in with WP:BLP, and the need to write conservatively about a living subject. --Madchester (talk) 01:27, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
