Title[edit]

Wouldn't "John of Léoncel" make more sense as a title, as a literal translation into English? The current title mixes English and Latin for a French bishop in Bosnia. Srnec (talk) 01:35, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're making a good point. I started a similar discussion at Talk:Juraj Imoćanin. The conclusion was to use a native name per WP:USENATIVE, since no English sources are talking about this person.
Since I'm relatively familiar with the topic, I can say this, two prominent authors (Mandić, Žugaj) call him "Joannes de Leoncello", three authors (Soldo, Škegro, Žugaj) call him "Ivan de Leoncello". As I said, there aren't any English-speaking or French-speaking authors dealing with this person (as far as I'm aware, though there was a guy with the same name, a commander of the Knights Hospitaller in the 15th century). This can be checked via Google Scholar (which omits Governor Sheng (talk) 03:12, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
