Vague terms: pulutan and viand[edit]

These words are not very informative; I suspect most English speakers would not have met them, and am myself unclear on their exact meanings. My guesses are as follows:

  • pulutan - a dish to eat with rice (based on the Malay word "pulut" for "glutinous (that is, sticky) rice"; Malay and many Micronesian languages are Austronesian)
  • viand - a meat dish (based on the French for meat)

Please edit the article for clarity if you understand these words better than I do.
