Can anyone explain why Leeds Castle is nowhere near Leeds?

I've done my best. You'd think Americans would be used to more than one place having the same name, but somehow they still get mixed up. Bagpuss
On that note:
"The castle and grounds lie to the East of the village of Leeds, which should not be confused with the city of Leeds, hundreds of miles to the north"
"Hundreds of miles" should be replaced with the exact distance if somebody could find out. Lee M 01:03, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

why? if you put the exact distance in, it might suggest it has some sort of significance? the two are not related, and "hundreds of miles" serves that purpose better than a precise distance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackariasd (talkcontribs) 23:42, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The first reference (http://academics.vmi.edu/english/englandtrip/2002/2002-index.html) is no longer available. I can't find any reliable alternative reference. Semi-anonymous Andrew (talk) 13:50, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ads vs. Encyclopedia

[edit]

Sections of this article read as a commercial advertisement or commercial web site, not an encyclopedia entry, such as the listing of ticket prices, hours and other transient trivia. 76.23.157.102 (talk) 04:40, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A very good point. The ticket prices and list of events in 2009 has been removed. If anyone wants that kind of information they can go to the official Leeds Castle website. This is an encyclopedia, not a brochure. Nev1 (talk) 22:07, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I thought it worth noting that on 21 May 2010, this picture was on the pain page (TFP), resulting in a spike of 20,000 visitors. Nev1 (talk) 23:12, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Use in cinema, TV, radio and for concerts

[edit]

I've removed the following material from the article for the time being until it can be shown to be important rather than a collection of trivia. Nev1 (talk) 22:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The link to 2014 stats seems to have changed, but it is not dead. I will update appropriately. Beevil (talk) 12:10, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership

[edit]

The Foundation isn't the owner. It’s not on the Foundation’s balance sheet and according to press reports it just has a 50 year lease. 79.72.167.202 (talk) 22:27, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you're referring to this, then you may wish to read the last line, wherein the Foundation clarifies that it was an April Fool's jest. Heavy Grasshopper (talk) 10:39, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
