Proposed merge with List of carnivoran genera

[edit]

I propose List of carnivoran genera be redirected to this list. The purely alphabetical list of genera provides no biologically relevant information. List of placental mammals in Order Carnivora contains not only duplicate information (i.e. Carnivoran genera), but places them in a meaningful, taxonomic context, and having one list instead of two makes it easier to keep taxonomic changes current and maintain standardized content across lists and articles. --Animalparty-- (talk) 18:19, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Name change

[edit]

The title of this list seems a bit redundant and unspecific, as well as lengthy (see WP:PRECISE and WP:CONCISE). All members of Carnivora are placentals. Furthermore, the fundamental entries listed (speceis) are undefined in title: therefore no information is lost, and clarification is improved, by retitling this List of Carnivora species or List of carnivoran species. Thoughts? Opposition?--Animalparty-- (talk) 18:43, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
