Sorting
[edit]Why not a sortable table?--Symposiarch (talk) 10:43, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
Lemma
[edit]I suggest renaming into List of Roman places. First, there is a notable list of places which where already settlements before the apperance of the Romans, as well. Secondly, not all settlements were cities. -- Gehirnzelle (talk) 22:39, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
Founding of Rome
[edit]Rome was not founded in 753 BCE, nor was it founded by Romans. Around that time there were Latin villages at the top of the hills around the location of the future Rome, which was then a swamp. Around 600 BCE the swamp was drained, and an Etruscan city, complete with forum, was built and populated with the inhabitants of the villages. At the same time, the villages' cemeteraries fell into disuse.[1]
