Nobody proposed a rationale for a merger with List of flags by design. It's a possibility, but first, is this list really encyclopedic? This list cites no sources, and seems very WP:OR. This page needs to be edited a bit
[edit]I noticed that many of the lists are not completely sorted alphabetically. And the some of the lists are hard to understand. For example, if there is a star on the flag will it be put in the star category? No, not necessarily. If the star is part of a crescent then it won't be found on that list even though the star is clear and big. I actually used the list to create a world map where one can select the different categories so the list itself is very much useful. National?
[edit]The title says this should only include national flags, but there are lots of sub-national flags here. Which do we want it to be? National flags only, and remove the others? Or change the title? I'd say the former. —swpbT go beyond 16:46, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- I'd favor it continuing to include subnational flags. I think many people who are looking for a list of flags with a certain design element will be interested in both, and it's not a major problem for people who only want national flags, as long as the subnational ones are clearly marked as such. - There is already a separate article (List of flags by design) that includes subnational flags. The real question is why have both articles and not just one? Rexodus (talk) 18:08, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

Can someone explain the "By continent" section please?
[edit]The whole point of this article is examining the different designs that flags use, and grouping them accordingly. So what's the point of List of national flags by design#By continent? I believe this section should be removed. FDW777 (talk) 19:37, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

Historical flags?

UN Flag under maps
[edit]Considering that under the "maps" section (11.12), the flag of the African Union is listed, shouldn't the flag of the United Nations also be listed?
