Relevance to the "superior orders" defense[edit]

Getting ahead of a potential edit war here. On 24 April 2019 I edited the page to show the Little v. Barreme ruling's impact on the superior orders legal defense as regards the US Armed Forces. On 26 February 2023, this was removed, on the argument that the citation did not support the assertion: "if anything, it supports the opposite; United States v. Jones (1813) stated the modern version, which is different from what Little v. Barreme states".

This is simply a false statement. Neither the assertion nor the citation stated nor were intended to argue that Little presented the modern version of the principle. I stated only that they were an early version that was then expanded and codified in Jones et al. -- StarSword (talk) 05:57, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
