Untitled[edit]
- This article has a lot of uncited factual claims, and a lot of weasel wording. It may be slightly NPOV, biased toward Gutierrez, but it's not egregious. I cleaned up a couple spots, added citation flags, and weasel flags. I'm not familiar enough with the biography rules to feel good about adding/modifying much, especially with Gutierrez in news today. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Quothz (talk • contribs) 05:50, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
payday loan bills[edit]
There are multiple bills that Gutiérrez has proposed. The section on these bills does not differentiate, it has the "payday loan" companies siding with the payday reformers. It needs to be clarified which bill is being discussed. h111-H.R.1214 or h111-H.R.1846. and also the differences between them.Scientus (talk) 16:39, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- Good point. I've revised the section to differentiate between 1214 and 1846, and reorganized it a bit for logical flow. Hope it's more clear now. --CliffC (talk) 19:04, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
Removal of final section[edit]
I removed it because it consisted of nothing more than a quote where Gutierrez calls the department of Homeland Security gestapos. It's only purpose seems to be to discredit Gutierrez with an isolated quote. If somebody wants to write an entire section of controversial things he's said, that's fine with me. However, one quote hardly constitutes a section. Lechonero (talk) 00:44, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Below is the quote:
“You know who is in charge now? The Gestapo agents at [the Department of] Homeland Security. They are in charge, I think it is election season, and they have decided it did not work for us one way [with comprehensive reform], so let’s try to exploit it politically another way”[1].
F.A.L.N.[edit]
The section refering to the F.A.L.N. is missing information dating the time range in which Gutiérrez was involved in these actions or held these posts. Also, it seems to be under the wrong header (U.S. House of Representatives > Tenure). --91.61.12.17 (talk) 07:29, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
If a sitting, veteren US Congressman were a leader or even former member of the Puerto Rican Socialist Party or a leader or agent of the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional Puertorriqueña, we can be fairly certain said facts would have popped up in say the New York Times or Washington Post by now. Editors are respectfully reminded this is WP:BLP. Thanks. Hugh (talk) 03:37, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
As a US Congressman of two decades, in his tenth term, hundreds of thousands of words have been written about the subject of this article in the local, national, and international press and are available online in news archives. Biographies of living persons require care in referencing. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I don't think two pointed websites meet the standard of reliable sourcing. What do you think? Hugh (talk) 17:55, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

"Gutiérrez has been compared to civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., due to both figures' use of non-violent civil disobedience in their advocacy for the equal rights of their communities"

"Gen. Kelly" quote unsourced[edit]
In the intro, the "Gen. Kelly" quote is unsourced and his full name is not used. I asume it's John F. Kelly but, since the quote is unsourced, I can't confirm that. 96.231.222.145 (talk) 18:33, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Retirement from Congress[edit]
I would refrain from indulging in rumor on Gutierrez's announcement directly on the page, but I've been hearing bits about possible blackmailing over his Trump impeachment efforts? Frevangelion (talk) 02:20, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
