Homes

[edit]
Noel Coward 8 Allan Warren

I may have missed it, but I’m wondering if we want a link to Firefly Estate in the fifth paragraph of the Personal life section, which focuses on his homes. I’m also wondering if there’s sufficient material to write an article on Les Avants. This does already have an article, Les Avants, about the place, so the title would have to be something like, “Les Avants (Chalet Coward)”. Or we could try Coward’s preferred “Shilly Chalet” There is a decent Warren photo. There is also this rather luscious article on Joan Sutherland’s place up the hill, which Coward found for her, [1]. Dame Joan certainly didn’t skimp on the decor! Perhaps it would be best just to write a little bit about Coward’s place in the article on the village. Any thoughts? Forget Firefly, I see now it is linked in the Death section above. KJP1 (talk) 11:59, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
For my own part, I shouldn't be enthusiastic about adding anything much about Firefly or Les Avants to the main Coward article, and the former has a decent article, as KJP1 notes. As to Les Avants, I'd be pleased to see the village's article enlarged a bit if anyone is interested in expanding the mentions of the Coward or Bonynge residences. I have a shelf of books about Coward and will be happy to dig in them for info about Les Avants if wanted. Tim riley talk 14:59, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Irrelevant addendum: I am delighted, but entirely unsurprised, to see in the excellent Warren photograph furnished by KJP1 that the books closest to Coward's hand are Chambers' Dictionary, the ODQ and the Oxford Companion to English Literature. Tim riley talk 15:07, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, not suggesting adding anything into the main article, the link to Les Avants is already there. But until yesterday, that article didn’t mention Coward. Perhaps we might do a little live editing next month. KJP1 (talk) 05:41, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
God save us! I shudder to think what our "little live editing" might produce. Tim riley talk 07:31, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just for completeness, we do now have the article, Chalet Covar. KJP1 (talk) 10:16, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
