"Republic" and Communism
[edit]A considerable topic is missed: superficial comparison of Plato's city and communist society popularized in the early USSR, as well as a similar post-soviet comparison, but from the point of view of completely opposite judgement.
A solid starting point: F.Nethercott: "Plato's Republic in a Bolshevik Utopia" article, evolved into a book, Russia's Plato. And of course, google will give you much more, for a full-blown separate article.
Eg. Karl Kautsky saw Plato's among the precursors of socialism. Bertrand Russell after visiting the ussr alluded to Plato's.
Unfortunately a have become severly handicapped in typing, so I cannot cover the topic myself. - Altenmann >talk 06:16, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
