Merge

[edit]

I just merged a duplicate article by an anon. Since I don't know much about this subject, I'm pasting the content of the duplicate article here in case there's any verifiable content anyone wants to incorporate into this article:

Russell Long was elected a Democratic U.S. Senator from Louisiana in 1948 and served for many decades. He was the son of the controversial, assasinated governor of Louisiana. As part of Georgia Senator Richard Russell's "southern bloc" in the Senate, Senator Long was often forced to vote along with the other Southern senators against civil rights legislation, though there is evidence that he personally supported civil and voting rights for blacks and Mexican-Americans.

JFK?

[edit]

I was wondering if it was worth mentioning that Senator Long was portrayed by Walter Mathau in the film JFK or that he was portrayed as believing in a conspiracy. For all I know this is something that Oliver Stone made up, but I was just curious if he ever did speak out about that and if it was worth mentioning. It's probably inconsequential though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.23.62 (talk) 22:23, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I second this. I believe someone needs to provide some evidence that Long really believed in a conspiracy. I can't accept anything said in the movie 'JFK' on faith. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.29.165.122 (talk) 17:00, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
