I got the cost of the missile from the Russian source - however the numbers seem a little screwy - if you convert 1955 Francs into Dollars using http://www.eh.net/hmit/exchangerates/ the cost of the missile comes out at about 1 dollar - that's clearly wrong. I suspect that the number has been "re-based" (divided by 100) in New Francs - see French Franc - does anyone have a source to prove it ?

Although 100 dollars is still pretty cheap - I've seen that the AT-3 Sagger was 500 dollars a missile in the 1960s.
