misattribution
[edit]The saying in Avot 1 cannot be this Shimon because a) it is ascribed to Shimon haTsadik, not an appellation of this rabbi and more important b) Shimon haTsadik is described as one of the last members of (Ezra's) great assembly. Shimon haTsadik's saying is placed before that of Antigonos of Socoh, who immediately preceded the first of the zugot. See the article on Simeon the Just here on Wikipedia. The incorrect information has been removed. Patrij (talk) 15:11, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Simeon or Shimon?
[edit]The article uses both spellings - I was about to change to match the title, but thought someone may have a better idea than me.ChrisHodgesUK (talk) 16:01, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out. I added "(or Shimon)". -- -- -- 22:10, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
