1998

@Howard the Duck: do you know why Arroyo won the north? Braganza (talk) 13:04, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is WP:OR, but Arroyo's running mate is Jose de Venecia Jr., who is from the north. The only other vice presidential candidate from the north is Oscar Orbos, and Arroyo led everyone in the surveys. Estrada's running mate, Edgardo Angara, is an Aquino administration figure and the Marcoses may not have liked him.
I'll check what I can dig up though. Howard the Duck (talk) 13:33, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently, Oscar Orbos won his home province of Pangasinan. I'd dig up on this tomorrow morning. Howard the Duck (talk) 13:46, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thanks Braganza (talk) 14:16, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I tried looking for this and found mostly nothing. There was something about Marcos and the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan joining the Laban ng Makabayang Masang Pilipino in 1998, but the Aquino-led faction in the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino opposed and threatened to transfer to Lakas-NUCD-UMDP. The Aquino candidates stayed in LAMMP so I guess nothing came of that and only Erap was supported by the Marcoses. Howard the Duck (talk) 22:55, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
