Inconsistency in History section?

There appears to be an inconsistency in the History section, where it says It is noted that in 1843 the lock-keeper prevented a steam vessel from coming through the lock - part of the Thames Conservancy's attempt to prevent damage to the towpaths upstream.... the Thames Conservancy article says the TC wasn't founded till 1857, so they presumably didn't do anything in 1843. ++Lar: t/c 22:10, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Good spot. Thacker refers to the Conservators, but he must mean the Commissioners. At this time their juridiction only came down as far as Staines so his implication that they had an influence may just be conjecture. Motmit (talk) 09:43, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

"In England"

I think we're overdoing it when we say that Teddington Lock is in England. Isn't it enough to say that it's on the River Thames, "in the western suburbs of London"? --TS 01:42, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

I know where it is; you know where it is; but there may be millions in the world who don't. It is a small courtesy and doesnt blow megabytes of storage to give a country for geographic locations. We do this for all other locks, crossings, islands, tributaries and towns on the River Thames and so it would be odd to exclude one Motmit (talk) 08:02, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
