homophobic material
[edit]the tag line under Tom's name is homophobic 82.39.103.146 (talk) 11:22, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- Which "tag line" is that? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 11:48, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
Needs to specify bullied after the 2008 Olympics if not the 2004 Olympics
[edit]So this bit - "In April 2009, Daley alleged to Plymouth's main local newspaper The Herald that he had been bullied at school since the Olympics."
It might sound obvious that it means the 2008 Olympics a year earlier - but the overall article reads like this;
He is born in 1994, and is certainly competitively diving by 2004 when still very young (so in theory could be in that Olympics and it doesn't say). Then it mentions his education and gives the above line - but before it then mentions much further down that he was in the 2008 Olympics or indeed any Olympics.
So I assume it should be changed to this - "In April 2009, Daley alleged to Plymouth's main local newspaper The Herald that he had been bullied at school since the 2008 Olympics."
If it was indeed after that 2008 Olympics and not 2004 or both.
Or events in the article need to be in chronological order throughout. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.99.210.174 (talk) 15:05, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
Daley's engagement
[edit]There has been some conflict over whether to add more context to the engagement section. I was about to reword the sentence from this edit to "Daley and Black met at an industry event, with Daley later saying that it was "a real love-at-first-sight thing."", although I'm curious to hear about any other ideas. I personally think some kind of expansion is needed. Pinging @Rubbish computer: can't ping the IP, but hopefully they'll see this. Remagoxer (talk) 18:36, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi I think @Remagoxer:'s wording is the better option. Rubbish computer Ping me or leave a message on my talk page 18:39, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
Before engagement
[edit]There should be some description of their relationship before they were engaged. There's plenty of material in The Guardian article here: [1]. Many bio articles have "x dated for six months and then..." or "y met x at school and then met again ...", etc., etc. Here there is nothing. They suddenly "announce their engagement". Some kind of introductory detail warranted and needed. Black is from a totally different business and is 20 years older. 86.170.155.255 (talk) 18:37, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi I think @Remagoxer: had a good idea to reword it a bit. Thanks for taking this to Talk and not edit warring. Cheers, Rubbish computer Ping me or leave a message on my talk page 18:40, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
2021 Competitive History
[edit]The competitive history chart is incomplete and should be updated to include Daley's results at the 2021 European Championships and the 2021 FINA Diving World Cup, as described in the international competitions section. --Mayag224 (talk) 16:40, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:16, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
2020 Olympics Russian TV homophobic comments
[edit]The International Olympic Committee investigated homophobic comments made about Daley on Russian state TV. Presenters on Rossiya-1 network's 60 Minutes show portrayed Russian competitor Aleksandr Bondar as a "normal guy" while Daley was "a British homosexual". Daley issued a response reported here.
