Notability tag

[edit]

The article is currently [1] tagged with a notability template, dated October 2008 which is when a hit-and-run importance template was posted. [2] There seems to have been no attempt to discuss this by the original poster or by the many subsequent editors of the article, so there's no evidence that anyone has done any investigation at all.

The album is appallingly bad and received the reception it deserved, but is historically significant enough to have been re-released as a CD. It was a key influence on garage rock (some even consider it to belong to that genre). It doesn't satisfy WP:NALBUMS as far as I can see, but that doesn't seem right to me. I'm guessing that others feel the same, which is possibly why the tag and article have both survived without discussion.

The track listing is certainly encyclopedic information. Merging it into The Troggs doesn't seem right, and there is no other suitable article at Category:The Troggs or Category:The Troggs albums.

I think we should just remove the tag, under WP:IAR if necessary. Or alternatively, create a separate discography article. But I'd like to see articles on all Troggs albums in the fullness of time, and this is unlikely to happen while one of the four (only) articles we do have is tagged like this.
