Vaknin - not a doctor, and the central character of the documentary 'I, Psychopath'

[edit]

The documentary 'I psychopath' is all about Vaknin. He scores 18 on the PCl-SV, which is the screening version of the PCL. Although not a formal diagnosis because he doesn't fit into the narrow categories that the PCL-R is intended for (the PCL-R diagnoses psychopathy) it indicates very strongly that he IS a psychopath. The documentary can be found online. It's well worth watching. It includes snippets from Robert Hare (more below).

You've all been fooled by a skilled manipulator if you believe that he's an authority on narcissism. He has no doctorate and is certainly not a 'professor'. He bought his doctorate from a diploma mill. He actually states this in the documentary at 52.38

The documentary can be found online at youtube (dot) com/watch?v=oxRwDFmjXKU

The director of 'I, Psychopath' discusses Vaknin and his success at marketing himself as an 'expert' on narcissism, claiming that he sucks vulnerable people in and then exploits them, in the radio show 'Late night live', Phillip Adams, 'Spending time with a psychopath', Wednesday 24 March 2010 10:30PM, ABC Australia. Also well worth a listen. Also on this radio show is Professor Robert Hare (a genuine professor) who devised the so-called 'Gold Standard' of psychopathy diagnosis, the PCL-R. The relevant episode of the radio show can be found at this link:

Literally NOTHING that Vaknin states can be trusted unless there is a wealth of background information to corroborate it. Come on Wikipedia, you can do better than this! YadaYadaYetMoreYada (talk) 13:53, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
