Women in Red: Focus on Suffrage (2019)

This article was created or improved during the Focus on Suffrage initiative hosted by the Women in Red project in 2019. The editor(s) involved may be new; please assume good faith regarding their contributions before making changes.

It would be good to have WP articles for all of Holtby's novels at least, there is one for South Riding, but others have no article. We could start with The Crowded Street, one of her more autobiographical works, which prefigures South Riding somewhat. Frank Walsh (1962) (talk) 15:21, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

The Somerville archive has a picture of Holtby as an undergraduate (here) – is it out of copyright? - Pointillist (talk) 15:41, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Public domain use cannot be determined without knowing F. Howard Lewis' death date. I have added it as a fair use image in the infobox.WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 20:51, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Harry Pearson

"She never married, though she had an unsatisfactory relationship with a man named Harry Pearson, who proposed to her on her deathbed." is uncited.

Alan Bishop in his Oxford bio of Holtby writes "On her deathbed in a London nursing home at 23 Devonshire Street, Marylebone, Winifred Holtby was betrothed to the man she loved, Harry Pearson."

Not sure what the truth is.
