Alter's Birth-date

[edit]

The Alter family tree available here [1] states that Yankel Alter was born 1936. What's the source that he was born in 39? I'm reverting the page. If you'd like to change it again, please cite your source here or in the article. ShalomShlomo 23:05, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A source for the birthdate in 1939 is אור זרוע לצדיק vol2 p שמז, the bigraphy of the Lev Simcha. Stated clearly that his son was born on Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivon 5699. The Alter family tree at [2] is a useful resource, but does not conform to the reliable source criterion. I have changed the date back to 1939 Redaktor 13:01, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Why is it written Yakov? I assume it should be Yaakov. If anybody minds, please discuss. --Daniel575 | (talk) 21:20, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rebbes of Ger

[edit]

Rabbi Shaul Alter is the leader of Kehilas Pnei Menachem a breakaway offshoot of the Ger Hassidic movement. Upon his own wishes he is not called "Rebbe" and is reffered to by his own followers as "the Rosh Yeshiva".--Steamboat2020 (talk) 18:20, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
