Pre-Puranic

Need definitions of Pre puranic Yuga ChandlerMinh (talk) 14:08, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It was already in the lead and "Etymology" section. Jroberson108 (talk) 20:44, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Much more needed to "do justice" to this important topic

[edit]

This topic is all too short for the many layers involved in any meaningful treatment of the yugas.

— One point that needs would be to pull in the yuga cycle from the "See also" category to a more central position in the article itself, including the length of each yuga and the sandhya or interval period from one yuga to another

— Another is the question of which yuga we are currently in, since there are two schools of thought: one, that we are not yet out of ascending Kali Yuga; the other, that we are actually in ascending Dwapara Yuga.

— There should also be discussion of how the four yugas dovetail so well with other fourfold categorizations of time periods by major civilizations such as Egyptian, Greek, and Native American, to mention just a few such breakdowns.

I would like to work on the article to enhance it by addressing these three needs, but I'm hoping others will pick up on it as well.

Please don't. This page describes the general usage of the term yuga, which the lead specifies. There is already an in-depth yuga cycle page for that particular usage as well as pages for the named yugas like kali yuga. There are also other pages that relate "all" the different units to each other like Hindu cosmology where it is more appropriate to do so. Jroberson108 (talk) 18:33, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
