This is a translation of the following Russian text originally posted at Zuhayr Talib Abd al-Sattar al-Naqib.

ЗУХАЙР (англ. ZUHAYR), (ибн Аби Сульма Рабиа ибн Рийа аль-Музани, ок. 520 – ок. 609) – один из величайших арабских поэтов доисламского периода, современник Мухаммеда. Принадлежал к племени Музайнах (Muzaynah). Его отец был поэтом, его старший сын, Каб, тоже был поэтом и читал свои стихи перед самим пророком. Поэма Зухайра, созданная им по случаю прекращения многолетней вражды между двумя бедуинскими племенами, представлена в знаменитой антологии доисламской арабской поэзии «Аль-Муаллакат». Сохранились также его сатирические стихи и стихи во славу своего племени. В арабскую традицию Зухайр вошел как олицетворение рассудительности и добродетели в противовес беспечным «вольнодумцам» Имруулькайсу и Тарафе.
