Relics

[edit]

I wonder if we might do away with the relics field, move the Lille Stesichorus up to "Other works" and delete the Oxyrhynchus Papyrus altogether. Though preserved on papyrus, the Stesichorus poem is generally treated as a poem, a fragmentary one like the Oedipodea and Thebaid, so calling it a relic and something substantially different from those and similarly transmitted poems might be a bit misleading. P.Oxy. 22 is one of eight or so papyri of Sophocles' Theban plays (not to count the numerous medieval manuscripts), and the article on it is of questionable notability and significance to readers clicking through this rad, full coverage template of Oedipus.  davidiad.:τ 11:53, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I also just noticed that Aeschylus and Seneca are listed as "Ancient Scholars". I guess Seneca might be called that at a stretch, but his literary output really makes him a philosopher and dramatist, which is what he's called in the scholarship when more than Stoic is offered. Aeschylus is a tragedian.  davidiad.:τ 11:28, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and edited the template to reflect the above concerns.  davidiad.:τ 11:29, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
