Orphaned non-free media (Image:Batwing bf.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Batwing bf.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello,

I have recently updated the Earth-Two article with information form the upcoming JSA Annual #1 by Geoff Johns. I am attempting to upload the image from the articles and I was wondering if you could help me.

The article is located at:

http://www.comicbloc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63414

Any help or guidance you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ambox

Hi. Thanks for your message -- have I forgotten to add a link such as this somewhere? Sardanaphalus (talk) 22:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

  • If I've tagged a category for deletion somewhere, then that's a mistake; my apologies and please point me toward it so I may amend it accordingly. Otherwise yes, if all templates in a category not identified as an infobox/ambox/stub/etc category are meant to be navboxes (navigational), then the added layer of navbox template categories becomes redundant. Sardanaphalus (talk) 22:47, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Sorry for the gap in communication. Just to be sure, are you saying that a {{category redirect}} tag is usually taken to mean the category is about to be deleted? I guess that makes sense if they're also used that way, although I thought it was bots that did Categories for discussion's jobs. At present I hope the categories I've redirected aren't deleted because I imagine folks will place articles in them before cottoning onto the above. Sardanaphalus (talk) 00:13, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Wrong call

That is exactly the kind of belligerence that made me place a "neutral" against your Admin vote. I changed a grammatical error in my last edit and checked out the reference. It you had truly looked you would see that all the information is still there but a POV assumption. Swanning in and playing mr. assumption when I've been playing by the rules for weeks does not on my good side get you.

Asgardian (talk) 02:10, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

1st, pull the claws in a bit. If I were running on a bad hair trigger as you think it would have been a lot worse for the both of us.
2nd, I did look. When I pulled it up the edit showed you on both side of the edit and no change. I had come into it from the watched list and could have sworn I had clicked the "Changes" link. At that point ir read as you had reverted to your last edit. That's what I acted on.
3rd, looking at it a second time I somehow got you edit to come up as both the previous and change. The same thing happened when I pulled up you comment here. Evidently I did click on the wrong link, and that is my bad. For that I apologize and have reset the article.
Last, somethings for you to chew on: Errors happen, and I'm willing to own up when it's pointed out when/where/why I've goofed. More so when the pointed out in a way that doesn't read as antagonism.
- J Greb (talk) 03:11, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
While I have no comment (as yet) on the incidents/discussion above, I'll merely note the lack of edit summary (which is what drew me to this discussion...) Something probably worth considering. - jc37 03:16, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
OK...peace (everyone puts six-guns back in holsters and sits again. Pick up cards and have another shot). I've been trying very hard to keep things on a even keel and be fair of late, so I just that was left of field and unfair. I apologise. Perhaps you can assist when I try and reintroduce a pertinent piece of information and argue why it should be there? I don't know if a certain other user is still interested, but blank reverts don't help. I now see how pointless edit wars are. Anyway, onward.

PS - Yup. Did include rationale in edit summary. Always careful to do that now.

Asgardian (talk) 03:53, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Glad to hear that you attempt to. But that's not what I was referring to. See: this] to see what I meant.
Anyway, this appears to have resolved itself amicably between you, so I think I'll go look for an escape plan : ) - jc37 03:57, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Teen Titans

Like I said previously, the move of "Teen Titans (comic)" to "Teen Titans" was never discussed, with the exception of a discussion which resulted in favor of keeping it there. I want there to be a discussion before any move is made to "Teen Titans". I do not have to establish a consensus to move BACK to what the consensus had wanted. It's true that consensus isn't set in stone, but you have to establish that is true in this case. - A Link to the Past (talk) 19:47, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

WP:COMMONNAMES, IIUC sets out to name the articles as per most likely search. Based on what you've left behond, the most likely search for the article on the comic book is "Teen Titans". That is of course, unless you plan on 1) changing that page from a redirecto to a dab and 2) fixing all of the links for the comic that are currently pointing at the plain title. - J Greb (talk) 20:13, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
I've fixed a few misdirected links in my time. Regardless, if there's dispute to the name, then you have to open a discussion.
And I've never said that people are more likely to search for the comic. I said that I'm not set to give either one preference. And I've said that since it can't be established that either one is at least significantly more searched than the other, neither can get the main article. - A Link to the Past (talk) 20:23, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
I see that you (User:A Link to the Past) have started a discussion at talk:Teen Titans. Further discussion there, particularly about WP:COMMONNAMES, and WP:Naming conventions (comics), among other things, would be a good idea. - jc37 22:23, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:4153 400x600.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Creote

Hey, J. Sorry to dump this on ya, but it looks like Creote is about 90% plagarised. Most of the biog data and even one image come from a "Gay League Profile". This is especially problematic since that site's writers tend to be more colloquial than a Wikipedian. Think you could take a look? Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 00:33, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. Well, as much as I'd hate to besmerch the glowing rep of a highly established Wikipedian like User:Tigrahawk, I'm still inclined to believe this is simple copyvio. Their lack of a clear dating system—at least compared to ours—aside, the writing style matches them more than us, like I said before. Plus, they seem to create articles for character fasters and with more frequency than us. At the least, it'd be best if the article was overhauled and rewritten. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 02:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Alright. I've placed a message on her talk and put that page on my watchlist. In the meantime, I'll see if I come up with more original, encyclopedic spin on Creote's biog. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 06:30, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
No response from Tigra, but I've fixed the article for the most part. Now, I think I'll do as Dobie says and drift away... Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 21:21, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you and heads up

First, I wanted to express my appreciation for your support with Olsen and Culp. I also saw there is a lot naming convention action going on with Jubilee (comics), with the same editor. No response necessary, just wanted to again say thanks. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 00:09, 26 April 2008 (UTC).

Your opinion

Hi J Greb. I noticed your edit summary here. Are you admin? Could you look into this comment by Sceptre at WT:NOT? Sceptre said I have "a history for this"? I think this is simply more harassment by Sceptre. Sceptre got me blocked for 12 hours on April 16, 2008 after Sceptre filed a false vandalism report on me at AIV. This is the edit that Sceptre referred to as vandalism. Several editors stated that my edit was in fact not vandalism, such as Father Goose[1], Sjakkalle[2], The wub[3], Wizardman[4], and R. Baley[5]. My edit was based on a discussion on WT:NOT up to that point, which I summarize here. I really don't see the reason for Sceptre's comment here but to smear me. He linked to this discussion on my takl page, which has nothing to do with the WP:NOT policy. That thread is about that fact that I recently found out that Sceptre was spreading false information about me at the Administrator's noticeboard (the entire thread is readable here). I posted a rebuttal to his claims on Sceptre's talk page and Sceptre removed it calling me a "troll". So I put the rebuttal on my talk page and was accosted by Sceptre's good friend Seraphim Whipp. So in your opinion, do you think Sceptre's comment should remain at WT:NOT or be removed? --Pixelface (talk) 02:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
